Lil Nas X became one of the hottest names in music in the past few weeks due to his country-trap record, "Old Town Road." The song itself became a topic of conversation after Billboard decided that it doesn't qualify as a country record. The controversy surrounding the already-viral track helped it propel from #15 to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 which it could remain at next week. However, after the song blew up, there were numerous reports claiming that he previously ran a Nicki Minaj page which his team denied. Now, the rapper's opened up about the alleged account, calling speculation that he was behind the @NasMaraj account as a "big misunderstanding."
"It's like a big misunderstanding and it's not one that I even want to give the time, because I'm never putting someone as the face of my career," he said. "So I don't even speak on it. I just don't even acknowledge it, really. I know even more things are being made up and they're gonna be out there. It is disappointing when a big blog will post something without me talking about it but, I mean, it happens."
Last week, NY Mag published an article which included some strong evidence suggesting otherwise. The publication compared the URLs for Lil Nas X's former account which is seemingly connected to the alleged Nicki Minaj stan account.
