On Tuesday night, LeBron James was in New York City to accept the Icon360 award from Harlem’s Fashion Row event, and while there, the King made it clear he stands with Nike & their decision to have Colin Kaepernick as their next campaign star.
“I stand with anyone who believes in change..and I stand with Nike every day, all day,” said Lebron.
The Nike-supported fashion event was started to create solutions to bringing more black designers into the fashion industry. King James was there last night to be honored for his contributions to the African-American community, which included most recently opening the ‘I Promise School’ in his hometown Akron, Ohio, among other things.
In addition to accepting the award, the other reason LeBron was there was to debut the first ever LeBron sneaker made for women, the HFR x LeBron Nike 16. Designed by Kimberly Goldson, Undra Celeste Duncan and Fe Noel, the high-top sneaker, which drops Sept. 7, has a distinct cognac leather ankle strap that looks as if it could double as a cuff bracelet.
