Ever since Kobe Bryant's retirement, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers have been trying to find the next leader of their franchise. With a flurry of young stars in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and free agent Julius Randle, the young core needed a little push to get them back into the playoffs. Improving last season, the arrival of LeBron James will surely get the team back into playoff contention. While they may not have enough to compete head-to-head with the Warriors and Rockets, LeBron's signing spices things up in La La Land and much of the hip-hop community has taken notice.
Many may have critiqued Kevin Durant after joining forces with Steph Curry and the Warriors but LeBron was not subject to the same disappointment that came after his highly-publicized decision to join the Miami Heat years ago. Leading a group of talented, young players, LeBron has a chance to bring in a new era in Lakers basketball. Formerly run by elite guys like Kobe and Magic Johnson, the LakeShow's fans includes some of Hollywood's biggest names. While Jack Nicholson can be seen attending most home games at the Staples Center, the Lakers are known for attracting a lot of star power for their courtside seats.
With such big news, reactions came in extraordinarily quickly. Everybody from Snoop Dogg to 2 Chainz shared their excitement for the new acquisition. Check out a round-up of some of hip-hops finest responding to the news of LeBron's signing.
