After an abysmal season where the Los Angeles Lakers finished with a record of 37-45, the team fired head coach Luke Walton and have since begun a search for their next bench boss. While there have been a plethora of candidates, no one has been hired despite early reports that Tyronn Lue would get the job. Instead, the Lakers reportedly "insulted" the NBA Title-winning head coach by offering him a three-year deal which would correspond to the amount of time left on LeBron James' deal.
Now that Lue is out of the mix, the Lakers have to go back to the drawing board and it seems like their next target is Frank Vogel. According to The Los Angeles Times, Vogel will be meeting with the team today to discuss the possibility of becoming the team's next head coach.
Vogel already has quite a bit of head coaching experience behind him. In 2011, he became the interim head coach of the Indiana Pacers and over six seasons, led them to a record of 250-181. After being fired in 2016, Vogel moved onto the Orlando Magic where he only lasted two seasons with a record of 54-110.
Stay tuned for further details on the Lakers head coaching search as it is sure to heat up in the coming days.
