Kyrie Irving is consistently one of the most prominent free-thinkers in the NBA and last week, he came through with an idea that could have shaken up the entire NBA season. Irving got on a call with about 85 players and spoke to them about potentially boycotting the rest of the season due to all of the social unrest going on right now. It seemed as though Irving had a lot of support on his side at first but over the last few days, the momentum has died down. Now, players seem to be excited about heading to Orlando.
According to Ian Begley of SNY, Irving's phone call lacked any real sort of strategy. In the words of one person with knowledge of the call, many were prying Irving for a plan but he simply didn't have one.

“They were asking, ‘What’s the plan?'” Begley wrote. “Even the players who supported the idea of sitting, they were asking about a plan of action. There was no plan.'”
This lack of strategy is ultimately what led to the downfall of what Irving was proposing. This is not to say his efforts weren't genuine. Kyrie has always spoken from the heart and we're sure he will continue to fight for what he believes in. Hopefully, the NBA owners and players will be able to address social issues on the court, to make up for the lost time.
