Previously, we got word of rapper Kyle starring in a forthcoming Netflix coming of age hip-hop flick "The After Party." As few details were available, it wasn’t easy to decipher what level of involvement he would be having in the film, but now it seems we’re one step closer to finding out as Kyle recently took to social media, expressing his gratitude for the journey and revealing that the film was officially wrapped.
“Can't explain how amazing of a journey shooting my first movie has been," Kyle he captioned a group of photos on his Instagram. "I've made friends here Ill have for the rest of my life. Ill never have the pleasure of working with so many incredible people again. To the amazing crew and cast thanks for making it fun for me, and making me feel comfortable in a new world. I can't wait for you all to see this.. #TheAfterParty 🎥🎥🎥."
Soon after, Russell Simmons whose All Def brand is behind the movie, posted another photo of Kyle on set with a caption reading, "Guys get ready for afterparty 2. Can't wait for the world to see your brilliance. -and Def pictures presents the afterparty.”
Simmons’ Def Pictures has teamed up with Live Nation, WorldStar Hip Hop and Hunting Lane Films for the film. Following two friends who are looking land a record deal before one heads off to college and the other goes to the military. According to a press announcement, the late founder of WorldStar Hip Hop, Lee “Q” O’Denat decided to have his hand in developing the films “because of his love of classic films like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and ‘American Graffiti.’”
Other names attached to the cast of “The After Party” include Wiz Khalifa, who is no stranger to coming-of-age films with hop-hop motifs, Teyana Taylor, French Montana, and Blair Underwood while the film is written and directed by Ian Edelman of “How to Make It In America.”
