The circumstances that Kodak Black has been through recently has truly matured him as an artist. His last two releases, "Calling My Spirit" and "Take One," were filled with introspective street knowledge. Black's growth is amazing to watch, and we can't wait for his new album Dying To Live to touch down next week. Before the new album drops though, Black has blessed fans with another single.
Entitled "Testimony," Black tackles several deep topics on this one. Singing through an auto-tune filter, Black muses about his own salvation. He speaks to God and to his fans from a place of mental solace. Although he knows he's blessed, Black can't help but highlight the plights the devil has plagued him with throughout his life. From hustling at a young age to dealing with the law, Black lays down a developed narrative in his own version of a testimony.
Quotable Lyrics
They locked me in a box, I pray to God this ain't my destiny
I don't drink no lean, I’m sippin’ on holy water like this my medicine
I'm a livin’ testimony, every album like a testament
Everything I went through made me who I am 'cause he be testin' me
So I'm breakin’ bread with all my fam 'cause I don't take no ecstasy
I done sacrificed my niggas 'cause none of my niggas see the best in me
