Kanye West surprised us with the upload of this sprawling 17-minute r'n'b opus featuring singer/songwriter/producer The-Dream on his Soundcloud early this morning. The rapper continues on the path of recovery since his breakdown earlier in the year, and while working on his next album, which is still titled Turbo Grafx 16 as far as we know, he's also stayed on track with the release of Yeezy Season 5 the other week.
Kanye headed to the mid-2000s for his music choice at his recent fashion show-- this song was played on a loop, according to Pitchfork, and it's presented in the same manner on Ye's Soundcloud. Kanye recreates a record from J. Holiday that was written by The-Dream (so it's not too far off to have the OG songwriter appear on this experimental new version). It's a lush production, with a string arrangement, heavy synths and layered vocals, keeping the melody of the original song intact. Take a listen to this 2017 update and check out J.
