K Camp has one of the best hook games around. For the past few years, some of your favorite rappers have reached out to Atlanta singer/rapper for some help on the chorus. He's worked with Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Jeremih and many more. Over the course of 2017, he's also been very active in dropping new music. Earlier this month, he dropped a video for "Good Problem" and he's been hitting a slew of features throughout 2017. Today, he grabs the homie True Story Gee to put their spin on Meek Mill's "Save Me."
The two rappers are frequent collaborators, with K Camp and True Story Gee collaborating on "Diamonds" earlier this year. Their take on "Save Me" is also a testament to their chemistry on wax. K Camp comes into the song with a similar flow to what Meek did on his version before he switches it up on the verse. With the aid of auto-tune, their melodies really accentuate what they say in the song. As they exchange bars, the two rappers talk about the betrayal, poverty, death and the life that surrounds the streets. With pain in both of their voices, they speak on the things they've witnessed in their past. Although it's just a freestyle, it shows why K Camp and True Story Gee are some of the most underrated in the game.
In the description in song, it says "Slum Lords 2 Coming Soon, Shannon's Boy Coming Soon, 98' Jamaica Coming Soon." So clearly all the music that K Camp has been pumping out is a lead up to something. K Camp has been teasing Slum Lords 2 for quite some time and True Story Gee has been teasing Shannon's Boy since dropping "Diamonds" back in May. So hopefully with the release of this freestyle, it's an indication we'll be getting something before the year ends.
