Jussie Smollett's case has been confusing to keep up with. In an era of social media where information comes out at rapid speed, it's quite easy for misinformation to spread, especially when it comes to celebrities. Earlier today, reports claimed that police found new evidence that suggested Jussie Smollett is behind his own attack. The two brothers who were arrested for the attack were released and their lawyers said that they provided key information for the police about the attack. However, his team has come forth with a statement, denying that Smollett actually tried to orchestrate the crime on himself.
Jussie Smollett's lawyers said the actor is "angered" by the latest developments in his case. However, after police said they found new evidence that the actor paid the brothers to stage his attack, he claims “Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.” Police are now looking to interview him again after the two brothers from Nigeria were released without any charges. They did say that one of the suspects is actually Smollett's personal trainer.
The lawyers said that he's a victim of a hate crime and they'll continue to cooperate with authorities during the investigation. As of right now, they're not focused on responding to the allegations made by an unnamed source.
