The comedian could have seen this coming.

Jess Hilarious is the latest entertainer to be called out for homophobia. Unlike Kevin Hart, however, the comedian cannot blame the offensive nature of her comment on its having being posted a decade ago when standards of political correctness were laxer. Despite having witnessed the drama that followed the resurfacing of Hart's tweets, the social media star still felt compelled to use a homophobic slur in a clap back.

An Instagram user commented under one of her posts: "Imagine having to comment on TheShadeRoom 24/7 to keep the lights on." Jess responded, "Yea, imagine it f*gg*t." The offended party quickly turned to Twitter to share a screengrab of the insult which prompted critical comments as expected.

Jess took this as a cue to issue the usual message most famous people send after getting caught in similar situations. Then the entertainer issued an apology video along with a written message.

"Listen, I have NEVER been homophobic in my f*cking life. I love gay people as they love me. Yesterday I called a young man a “faggot” For disrespecting me. And for that, to the LGBT community I sincerely apologize," she wrote. "However if I feel disrespected and that someone hit below the belt, whether they are gay or not, I’m going to return the same energy. I’m trying to control my anger at this point in my career By being more positive, but just like anybody else, it’s a growing process."

Her "sorry" was swiftly picked apart and criticized as a non-apology. View the social justice mob in virtual action below.
