Set your DVR’s people, Jay Z is coming to Saturday Night Live next month. On Thursday night, NBC tweeted out that Hov would be serving as the musical guest on the season’s opening night, September 30th. Set to join Hov on the hosting duties is actor Ryan Gosling, who's known for roles in The Notebook or most recently La La Land.
September 30th will serve as JAY-Z’s sixth overall appearance on the late night comedy show and his fourth as a solo artist. The last time Hov made an appearance on SNL was back in 2013, when he joined Justin Timberlake to perform their hit-song “Suit & Tie.”
It’s pretty obvious that Hov is gracing the stage in support of his recently-released 4:44 album, but as for what song(s) he'll perform is anyone’s guess. At the very least, the performance will act as a nice precursor to his upcoming Fall Tour, which kicks off in October in Anaheim, before wrapping right before Christmas in Los Angeles. Peep tour dates right here if interested in catching Hov in a city near you.
Check out NBC’s announcement (below) and be on the lookout for a new music video from Hov to be dropping tomorrow afternoon at 4:44 PM EST, following up last week's video for "ManyFaceGodsManyFaceGods."
