He's not a businessman, he's a business...man. These days, the iconic Jay-Z line has never felt more accurate, as the legendary rapper has come to epitomize the idea hip-hop entrepreneurship. With stakes in streaming service Tidal and the 40/40 Club, Jay has solidified himself as one of hip-hop's wealthiest. Earlier this morning, it was reported that Jay's S. Carter Enterprises were filing trademark papers for his "Paper Planes" clothing brand, in order to expand on the product's commercial reach - you can read more on that development here.
Now, another report has surfaced, albeit only a rumor. E News has revealed that the S. Carter Enterprises was making moves, claiming that Jay managed to secure the rights to the name "Hovino." Apparently, trademark documents state the name will be used for "goods and services," which include "restaurant and café services, carry-out restaurant services, pubs, cocktail lounges, wine bars and more." While nothing is confirmed, it seems likely that Jigga will be expanding on his empire by entering the restaurant game.
As of now, there are little details to be found. Still, with a name like "Hovino," it's likely that Jay's restaurant will be of the Italian variety. Perhaps it will even be a nice, upscale sit-down place; only time will tell. Clearly, Jay-Z is thinking big in 2018. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Jay was planning on trademarking his "Story Of OJ" Jaybo character, in order to market the character on a variety of merchandise.
