Jay-Z and Chris Martin, of Coldplay fame, have long been close friends, with a relationship that dates back at least a decade. However, that bond is not the reason why the 4:44 rapper heaped praise on the rock singer/songwriter.
In a recent interview with Metro in the U.K., Hov called Martin a "genius" and a "modern-day Shakespeare." He added that "[Martin] is an incredible recording artist, an incredible songwriter, but where he really comes alive is performing live. If you get the chance to see Coldplay live, do it — you ain’t gonna regret it." The pair have performed together several times before, most notably at the closing ceremony for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
