While not always the most high-profile of all the rappers on TDE's roster, Jay Rock has always managed to stand out whenever he shows up on a track. On his recent contribution to the Black Panther soundtrack on "King's Dead," he holds his own alongside Future, as well as label-mate and Pulitzer Prize-winner Kendrick Lamar.
However, aside from the occasional guest appearance, fans have been starved for new Jay Rock music lately. He dropped his last album, 90059, in back in 2015, but since then there's been very little news on when he'll be releasing a new album. That is, until now.
Yesterday, TDE CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, shared a photo on his Instagram that will excite any Jay Rock fan. The photo shows a workplace meeting, with a laptop sitting in the middle of the table. The caption reads, "@jayrock marketing meeting.... New music and album coming soon... #TDE." That in itself is pretty nice, but a closer look at the laptop reveals even more information.
Zooming in on the screen shows Jay, masked up and throwing up gang signs. Underneath his name however, is the word "Redemption," which will presumably be the title of Jay's next album. In addition to that, a mention of Interscope Records is written below. Jay Rock's previous albums were all released through TDE, so it seems that Jay will have some support from a major label for this next project.
