Say what you want about Joe Jackson, but the man harnassed the talent of his children and molded them into legends. The father of Michael and Janet Jackson is a legend himself. Earlier this week, it was disclosed that Jackson had reached the finals stages of terminal cancer. His family has been by his side, and doctors are unsure how long he has left to live. Reports claim that he has been battling the sickness for an extended amount of time.
According to E! News, Janet was bestowed with the Impact Award at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards this weekend, and she acknowledged her father's influence in her acceptance speech. "It’s beautiful, it’s humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact, but if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life," she began. "My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable, my father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can."
"My siblings set an incredibly high standard, a high bar for artistic excellence," she continued. "Sometimes, having an impact can be as simple as a smile, a handshake, or a hug."
