Well this is rather interesting. Just last week, it was revealed that Lil Wayne was finally released from his contact with Birdman after he reportedly reached a settlement with Cash Money & Universal Music Group for about $10 million dollars. In fact, Weezy’s lawyer confirmed the settlement in a statement, which you can read for yourself below:
"Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties," he said. "In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”
So while its believed that Lil Wayne is no longer apart of Cash Money, that may not necessarily be the case. On Thursday, Cash Money singer Jacquees was a guest on TRL to promote his newly released debut album 4275, and while there he said that Lil Wayne is still signed to Cash Money.
“I just talked to Stunna the other day, he told me Wayne Cash Money,” Jacquees said with a smile on his face. “He said everything good, he said ‘I’m gonna get you Wayne on a song’,” he continued. However, who knows if there’s any truth to this. After all, it did come from Birdman’s mouth, who told Jacquees, so maybe the R&B singer misinterpreted it or maybe Stunna was lying?
It should be noted that a day after last week’s settlement was reported, Weezy and Birdman were spotted in the studio, alluding to the fact that their friendship was still good. So maybe there is some sort of deal intact?
Check out Jacquees’ comments (below) and let us know what you think. Do you think Jacquees’ was lied to or do you think Weezy could still be signed to Cash Money on the low?
