The Beatles already gave us The White Album. Jay-Z held it down with The Black Album. Perhaps J. Cole is about to bless the world with The Purple Album. As it happens, Cole has committed to the promotion-du-jour, clearing the entirety of his Instagram feed and opting for a blank slate; he's not alone in doing this, as Future, A$AP Rock, and Tekashi 6ix9ine recently made use of this tactic. Generally, it seems to herald the arrival of incoming music, which bodes well for Cole fans; while we've heard him appear on Royce Da 5'9"'s "Boblo Boat," it's been a minute since hearing an extended dose of the North Carolina lyricist.
A quick examination of his Twitter page finds even more purple, including the profile picture and cover photo alike. It's hard to glean anything from the change, but the change does seem to suggest that something is on the way. The last time we heard from Cole was at the tail end of 2016, when he dropped 4 Your Eyez Only. Some might argue that his sage-like presence is needed now more than ever; hopefully his upcoming project is his strongest offering yet.
What do ya'll want from the new J. Cole album? Personally, I can't help but hope for a Dreamville collaboration with J.I.D. and EarthGang. Only time will tell.
