When artist Sixmau, whose real name is Kamau Haroon, was negotiating with J. Cole about the K.O.D cover art, the North Carolina rapper allegedly told him that he would only be using the beautiful work for the project's booklet. There was no mention of merchandise or anything of the sort. Therefore, when Sixmau found out that the rapper was selling merch with the album cover on it, he was rightfully pissed. Now, the artist is making sure that everybody knows that he ended up getting the short end of the stick, calling out Cole on Twitter.
As reported by Bossip, Sixmau is not impressed by how the situation has been handled on the Dreamville side of things. Six fired some shots online, writing, "I did all the creative direction for the KOD album and he told me my work was only going to be used for booklet art. Only to turn around and make merchandise illegally with my art behind my back and profit majorly off it while on tour. Fuck them."
After fans started to inquire about what he meant, the artist explained. "THIS IS EXACTLY HOW HE IS ABLE TO EXPLOIT PEOPLE. HIS MESSAGE OF POSITIVITY MAKES THEM FEEL COMFORTABLE WHILE HE FINESSES THE MONEY BEHIND THEY BACK."
J. Cole has not responded to the allegations and we don't expect him to. He seems like the type of person who would rather handle this type of matter privately.
