With the number of music festival lineup reveals that were announced this week, one particular list of performers caught the attention of the Badlands singer, Halsey. Publicly pointing out what many may have been thinking, Halsey tweets her disappointment in the mostly male-dominated lineup for Firefly Music Festival.
"Damn guys come onnnnnn. Where the women at," she tweeted. "This was one of my favorite festivals I’ve ever played and it’s a shame there’s not more females on the bill. With the exception of (the amazing) Sza, the first like 20 acts on the bill are men. It’s 2018, do better!!!"
Her first tweet led a user to respond by asking her to "go off" on someone else over her opinion, where she replied saying, "Who am I supposed to “go off on” haha. Festivals ASK artists to play. Artists don’t ASK festivals if they can come. I’m just raising a point! So many dope women in music right now!" The user has since deleted their tweet.
Looking at Firefly's lineup, the only well known female performer is SZA, who leads in the 20% of women featured in the festival.
Firefly takes place in Dover, Delaware from June 14th until June 17th.
