It was that time of ear again as celebrities far and wide descended upon Charlotte, North Carolina for CIAA Tournament Week. The festivities are an annual basketball tournament held by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, a conference that mainly consists of Division II level historically black colleges and universities.
One of the events taking place Friday night was the Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne-hosted party at the Queen City’s Oak Room as the two rappers reunited during an outing that included guests such as Pierre “Pee” Thomas of Quality Control, model Bernice Burgos, and nightlife magnates Alex Gidewon and Michael Gardner. The two emcees posted together for a few pictures that naturally evoked plenty of inquiries on sequels to popular cuts, most notably the duo “We Steady Mobbin” joint of 2009.
The event was one of the final parties to cap off CIAA week, ending Saturday with tournament championship game that saw Virginia Union University topping Johnson C. Smith University by a score of 82-52 in the Men’s Tournament Championship match.
It goes without saying that the frequent collaborators have plenty more awaiting them outside of that photo opp as fans still anxiously await the arrival of Gucci’s forthcoming Evil Genius album and, of course, the long-delayed Tha Carter V on Tunechi’s end. Gucci’s delivery will likely get here sooner than later though as he most recently teased Evil Genius by dropping off the first single “Solitaire,” featuring QC soldiers Migos and Lil Yachty.
