The murder of George Floyd has sparked outrage across the United States and beyond. People rallied together in all 50 states demanding justice for George Floyd but the demand for police reform is as high as its ever been. Derek Chauvin is charged with third-degree murder while the other three men, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane, have been hit with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
According to CBS, Thomas Lane posted bond and was released from Hennepin County Jail on Wednesday afternoon. The notes from the prison indicate that his bail was set at $1 million. This comes days after his attorney Earl Gray made a series of television appearances where he had apparent trouble coming up with a solid enough defense, though he said the case against Lane is "weak." He spoke to Chris Cuomo on CNN and at one point, asked why civilians didn't get involved if they knew that George Floyd was dying.
A few days ago, it was revealed that the family of Thomas Lane launched a public donation page to help raise funds for Lane's legal defense. Like his lawyer, Lane's family tried to paint him as the good guy in the situation who did everything that he was possibly able to in order to save Floyd's life.
With Thomas Lane posted on bond, he'll likely need to hire some security too.
