Say their names. Say them loud and say them proud. George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. All three of them were killed by senseless violence -- either by police brutality or by white individuals.
Don Lemon recently said that there are currently two viruses killing Americans: COVID-19 and racism. Many would agree with that statement as yet another video of an unarmed black individual being killed by police was released after 46-year-old George Floyd died at the beginning of this week.
Protests and riots have taken place across the country and, this afternoon, the city of Atlanta will come together to fight for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.
According to 11Alive, protests in Atlanta are set to begin at approximately 4 PM today at Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center. Fliers have been distributing throughout social media with the hashtag #ATLFORUS. A moment of silence is set to take place at 4:20 PM outside the Capitol.
Protestors are being asked not to incite violence or destroy property, to practice social distancing (to their best abilities), record all events, and administer aid to those who need it.
Action needs to be taken after the killings of three innocent people in George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. If you are able to attend the protests in Atlanta today, consider doing so.
