While many assumed that The Long Night would mark the biggest battle in Game Of Thrones' final season, it would appear that may not be the case. The upcoming fifth episode looks to feature yet another dose of bloodsport, this time between the forces of Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, a revenge-fueled Grey Worm, the remainder of her surviving Unsullied and Dothraki, and Tyrion Lannister. On the other side stands the united front of Cersei Lannister, Euron Greyjoy & his Iron Fleet, The Golden Company and the Undead Mountain.
Given that last episode concluded with the death of both Rheagal and Missandei, it stands to reason that Dany will be fueled by a hot-tempered vengeance - in other words, playing right into Cersei's hand. Now, the trailer for the coming fifth episode has arrived, giving us little in terms of direction other than various preparatory battle shots. Glimpses of Jon, Cersei, Dany, Tyrion, Euron, Grey Worm, and the Golden Company certainly serve to create a simmering tension, and we can't wait to see how this plays out.
The as of yet untitled episode airs next Sunday, and is once again directed by Thrones veteran Miguel Sapochnik. Any prediction for the ultimate outcome? Expect Jaime Lannister, The Hound, and Arya Stark to make clutch late-game appearances, and for Dany's resolve to be pushed like never before. Mad Queen incoming? Remember, as Ramsay Bolton once foreshadowed, "if you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.?
