It’s been a long time coming, since April of last year to be exact when he first announced it in our exclusive interview, but nearly 15 months later, G Herbo & Southside’s joint project, Swervo, is finally right around the corner. At the stroke of midnight, the project was made available for pre-order on iTunes, ultimately sharing its tracklist, release date, & album cover in the process.
Dropping next Friday, July 27th, Swervo will contain 14 tracks in total and feature guest appearances from Young Thug, Chief Keef, Juice WRLD, Southside & 21 Savage, the latter of which appears on the previously heard song “How I Grew Up.” Meanwhile it’s currently being led by the singles “Who Run It” & “Focused.”
“Southside, who produced the whole album, came up with the name,” Herbo said of the collab. “We would hook up in Atlanta, Miami, or L.A. and just hop in $200K whips, swerv thru traffic—really just have fun and enjoy life—then go to the lab and capture that feeling. It’s that vibe. I can’t get that feeling in Chicago, because Chicago ain’t a place you can relax and let your guard down. Not even for a second. Don’t get me wrong, I still talk that street talk, because that who I am at my core, but on this album I’m still having fun with it at the same time.”
To coincide with today’s pre-order, the two also liberated the song “How I Grew Up,” which we already heard on the soundtrack to Superfly.
