Looking to duplicate the success of his latest album When Its Dark Out, Bay Area rapper G-Eazy is getting ready to pick up the promo for his upcoming album The Beautiful And Damned, which is due out later this year. While out in NYC last week, Young Gerald decided to pay a visit by The Angie Martinez Show on Power 106 and talk about the forthcoming album & its chart-climbing single “No Limit” with Cardi B & ASAP Rocky.
Unfortunately, G-Eazy didn’t go on to reveal when the album would be dropping, but he did give us some insight on what to expect from it. Gerald says that Beautiful And Damned will be a 20 song, double-disc album, which will feature the likes of A$AP Rocky, Cardi B, Kehlani, E-40, & more.
“Its a double album. So it’s 20 songs, ten & ten.” Gerald says. “Im calling it that for what is. The concept of it is kinda split in half. It’s two CD’s but for all in tense of purposes its 20 songs, it’s just a long album.”
“The concept of it is kinda like its about the lifestyle, the Beautiful and Damned like being a kid a having the dream of doing this starting from square one, from outside looking in from without having nothing, to chasing this dream and then all these years down the road of following this yellow brick road trying to get to where you’re going. One day waking up and being like ‘did it take me where I wanted to go?’ Is this fantasy of like sex, drugs, & rock roll is kinda cliche, but it’s cliche for a reason its dark.” G-Eazy explains.
“You gotta keep your head on straight. You gotta look in the mirror constantly and check yourself and ask yourself… ‘Am I leaning too hard on these substances? Am I getting out of control? Am I lying & cheating to the relationships or people who held you down from day one? Am I becoming a person I didn't want to be? That’s like the beautiful and damned aspect of looking at this celebrity, Hollywood & Rock & Roll crazy wild lifestyle and trying to keep it together & remain me,” he added.
In addition to this, Gerald also mentioned that he has a short film that will accompany with the album as well, which explores the crazy lifestyle of a “rockstar”.
