While French Montana may be riding high after receiving his U.S. citizenship, a recent lawsuit payout has probably put a damper on his mood.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, French has been ordered by a Georgia court to pay approximately $2 million to none other than Waka Flocka's mom, Debra Antney.
While this may sound bizarre on its face, those who are familiar with Atlanta trap music history won't be surprised. While she may be Waka Flocka's mom, she's also one of the top music managers in Atlanta, having been instrumental in the careers of artists such as Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane, and yes, French Montana. It's not a stretch to say that without Antney, the whole face of modern hip-hop would be much different than it is now.
It appears that Antney was awarded a judgement of $1,999,588.41 after winning her lawsuit against French last year, with another $135,140.91 awarded in the final judgement in January, 2018. While the lawsuit was filed in Georgia, a sister-state judgement allows her to collect her money from French in California.
Antney reportedly sued French back in 2013, claiming that he went behind her back to do business deals while she was still his manager. According to the new documents that Antney filed, French has yet to respond to the lawsuit, hence Antney going back to the courts to try and collect.
French probably shouldn't wait too much longer to get Antney her money, unless he wants to face the wrath of the Brick Squad.
