Trooper, David Casillas, (C) from the Florida Highway Patrol conducts a field sobriety test at a DUI checkpoint December 15, 2006 in Miami, Florida. The city of Miami, with the help of other police departments, will be conducting saturation patrols and setting up checkpoints during the holiday period looking to apprehend drivers for impaired driving and other traffic violations.
Don't drive drunk.

Uber and Lyft exist for a reason. No matter what time of the day or night, if you live in a city that provides a rideshare service, there is no reason to ever get caught drunk behind the wheel. Thousands of people die every year because of drunk driving, which is an occurrence that can be easily avoided. According to TMZformer police officer Stacey Koon is being charged with DUI after he hit a parked truck back in May. His BAC was twice the legal limit when police arrived at the scene.

Koon is infamous for being involved in the Rodney King beating. He and several other police officers were acquitted of the beating which led to the legendary Los Angeles Riots. The following year, the officers were tried in federal court and Koon was convicted of violating King's civil rights and sentenced to 30 months in prison. He was released on October 15, 1995.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that L.A. County District Attorney's Office formally filed charges against Koon, and he is facing 2 counts of misdemeanor DUI. If convicted, Koon could serve a maximum of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Since this is his first DUI charge, chances are his penalties will be minimum.
