UPDATE:
According to Will.i.am, Fergie will still remain in the group, but is taking a break in order to work on her upcoming solo album .
Whether you rock with them or not, there was an era in the mid two thousands where you couldn't walk ten feet without hearing six Black Eyed Peas songs. If you were one of those fans who did as the title suggested every time "Let's Get Retarded" hit the airwaves, this might be a little upsetting. Group master-mind Will.i.am has recently told Ahlan! that Fergie has parted ways with the group after a long and commercially successful run.
Will makes it clear that the Black Eyed Peas will continue to move forward, and while Fergie's contribution to their discography may very well prove irreplaceable, the group will continue to enlist female vocalists (including Nicole Scherzinger) on their upcoming album. He also makes it clear that the group will be recording with Fergie on her upcoming solo album.
"We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we’re proud that she has her label, but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun,” says Will.i.am.
