Fat Joe Announces New "Family Ties" Album, Teases Jay-Z Feature

Fat Joe teases a massive collaboration.

Fat Joe has been around for over two decades, and the Terror Squad CEO has enjoyed a lengthy and impressive list of collaborators. From Big Pun, Eminem, Nas, Jadakiss, Lil Wayne, and more, Joe has basically been checking off a list of the game's biggest names. Yesterday, Don Cartegena sat down with the Hot 97 crew to discuss a variety of topics, and while much attention was given to his comments on Lil Uzi Vert being an inferior (but still tight) version of Lil Wayne, the rapper also dropped some important news about his own music. Joe actually announced a new album called Family Ties, which is set to drop in the "springtime."

Sitting with frequent collaborator Dre, (who will be appearing on the bulk of the album), Joe teased that his upcoming project may very well include a feature from fellow veteran Jay-Z. I might be wrong, but I believe that Joe and Jay have never collaborated, so it would mark a first for both rappers. He also revealed that the album's vibe would be very much in line with the "classic" hip-hop sound, featuring a heavy implementation of sample-based production. 

"We tryin' to be so scorchin' for Summer Jam," teases Joe, before diving into a live performance fantasy. "I got one record on this album that I keep tellin' Dre, I keep dreaming I'm performing at Summer Jam. And you know I got energy, I'm a fat guy, but I've got energy...We have one record that I was the crowd to just..."
