Drake's A&R sweep of the World-at-large is nearing a region near YOU. The unofficial prime minister of Canada touched down in Jamaica to scour the local talent at Popcaan's Unruly Fest at Lyssons Park in St. Thomas, on less hostile grounds than your typical STING clash.
The lineup for the festival was, by all means, a general assembly of Dancehall's finest talent. We're talking Dexta Daps, Assassin, and Popcaan himself, as well as noted pioneers such as Cocoa Tea and Bounty Killer. Even rootsier artists like I Wayne ended up on the bill, much to the delight of concertgoers. But in the end, it was Drake that would invariably steal the show, swooping in during Popcaan's set to announce his signature to OVO after years of flirting with the idea.
In his attempt at appealing to the local crowd, Drake delivered his announcement in patois - later posing for photos with his new signee and Tory Lanez to mark the occasion. Last I checked, the OVO roster consists of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, dvsn, Plaza, Baka Not Nice, and finally after all this time, Popcaan, the true heir to the "World Boss" throne.
