Drake shares a call to action to help Hurricane Harvey victims.

Despite hailing from the North, Toronto's Drake has always had love for Houston. The city even had the honor of appearing in Drizzy's early hit "Houstatlantavegas," and in "No New Friends," Drake alludes that "H-Town" is his second home. Suffice it to say, Drake has some personal connections to the flood-ravaged city, so it's no surprise that he's using his extensive influence and considerable means to do some good to those affected. And while nothing can change the destruction that Mother Nature wrought upon the people of Houston, it's still good to see that people are banding together to make a difference.

In a recent video post on Drake's Instagram page, Champagne Papi addresses the tragedy and those affected: "To the resilient people of Houston and the entire state of Texas I would like to send you all of our love, all of our prayers. To the brave men and women that have assisted in aid, relief, rescue, your actions are truly heroic." He goes on to announce that his close friend JJ Watt has set up a You Caring page (find that here), and as of now, the total amount of donations has surpassed the ten million dollar goal. Drake himself contributed two hundred thousand dollars to that cause, before imploring his fans and followers to contribute whatever they could.

"The journey to rebuilding is going to be a long one, so anything you can give greatly appreciated," says Drake. As of now, the impact of Hurricane Harvey continues to grow. The U.S. military has since been dispatched, with over 6,000 troops deployed (per CNN). While it's great to see that Drake's goal has been surpassed, hopefully his message can spread and continue to make a difference.
