Big Freedia's vocals are ripped for other artists' tracks very often, yet the fans of those songs usually don't get the chance to see her face. Recently, this happened with Drake's "Nice For What." Although the music video featured a bunch of female celebrities, Big Freedia was nowhere to be found. This time around, it seems like Big Freedia might get some props for her unique voice.
Freedia has opened up to FADER about being excluded in such a way.
“You know, my voice be on a lot of different stuff and people want to use bounce music as a part of their music but when it comes to the proper recognition of me being in the video, that’s something that we’re steady working towards to make it happen,” she said in reference to her being on Beyonce's "Formation" single. “The credits are important but, for me, it’s still putting New Orleans on the map and I’m happy with the check."
Both Drake and Freedia were spotted together in New Orleans. At the time of their hanging out, the music video for "In My feelings" was apparently in the works. A photo of the pair was posted on Big Freedia's Instagram with a caption that included #inmyfeelings. The collaboration hasn't been confirmed officially, but it is likely. A photo of Drake's video shoot was tweeted from his account on the same day.
