Donald Trump's administration now has a government shutdown on their hands but, in the eyes of his son Eric, the gridlock incident may actually be a positive thing for the political landscape of the United States.
Both parties are opting to use opposing hashtags on Twitter to up the ante even further, with the Dems trumpeting #TrumpShutdown in their public messages, while the GOP have been using #SchumerShutdown in their tweets, putting the blame for the sudden stop in activity on Rep. Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Eric Trump believes that the "terrified" Democrats are getting a major wake up call with the shutdown.
"Honestly, I think it's a good thing for us, because people see through it," he told Jeanine Pirro on Fox News's Justice with Judge Jeanine Saturday night. "I mean, people have seen a year that's incredible. It's been filled with nothing but the best for our country, 'America First' policies, and they're happy with where we are as a nation ... It has the Democrats worried."
He expanded on that point by saying the following: "The only reason they want to shutdown government is to distract and to stop his momentum. I mean, my father has had incredible momentum. He has gotten more done in one year than arguably any president in history." He continued, stating, "How do they divert from that message? How do they save their own party when they don't have any leadership, they don't have any good candidates out there, they don't have a message of their own? How do they do that? They obstruct, they distract, they try and place blame."
