In a recent interview with Scripps reporter Joe St. George, President Trump hinted at a new round of stimulus checks in response to Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. "We will be doing another stimulus package," Trump said, adding "It'll be very good, it'll be very generous."
However, Trump would not go into specifics about his plan in the interview. When asked for a time frame or how much money he plans to allocate, the President deflected, saying "You'll find out about it."
While Trump’s statement is somewhat shaky, his plans for a second stimulus check have been corroborated by key members of his cabinet. Secretary Steven Munuchin stated "I think we’re going to seriously look at whether we want to do more direct money to stimulate the economy," while White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow also brought up the idea during an interview with FOX Business' Stuart Varney.
One potential plan, the HEROES Act passed by House Democrats in May, would send another round of $1,200 checks to Americans. Unlike the preceding stimulus, the CARES Act, the HEROES Act would also include older teens and college students.
