Dexter actor Michael C. Hall understands that he starred in a series that became a cultural phenomenon. While on a press run for his new Netflix series Safe, Hall spoke with Variety about a possible reboot, and how fans and critics of Dexter hold the show up to a high standard.
“I try not to take it all too seriously. I realize Dexter will be in the first paragraph of my obituary if one is written, maybe the first sentence, but that’s fine," stated Hall when asked how he felt about being bombarded with questions about a show that he finished years ago. “When Dexter ended, I wanted to mix it up and felt like the cumulative effect of the things I have done since has served as a sort of ‘Dexorcism.’" That explains why Hall has leaned more towards roles that display him in a less... murderous light since the series ended in 2013.
When asked if he would ever fill the shoes of the police blood splatter detective by day and serial killer at night again, Hall answered, “Maybe." He continued on to say, “It’s a possibility given how the show ended that we could revisit Dexter. I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else’s idea that makes it feel worth doing. But never say never.”
