Although 2016 might’ve been his breakout year, where he inked a new deal & went on a nationwide tour, rising Florida rapper Denzel Curry has been really capitalizing off his momentum this year & taking the next step in his career. Back in June, Denzel treated fans to a 5-track EP called 13, which he put it simply because he was bored & to hold the fans over.
“The reason why I put out the 13 EP is because I got bored. I wanted to supply my fans with something,” Denzel explained. “I knew I couldn’t give them the stuff from the album. The album’s not even done yet. It’s almost done, but it’s not done yet, and I want to make sure it’s perfect to a tee before I even think about releasing anything.”
Having spent all Summer long working on the highly anticipated debut album Taboo, Denzel gave fans a preview of what’s to come last month when he shared a snippet on Instagram, which caught a lot of buzz & attention at the time. But now, four weeks later, the record, titled “Skywalker,” has officially arrived on Apple Music/ Spotify.
Going in over production from Ronny J, Denzel delivers a boisterous & energetic record that finds showcasing his rapping/singing flow, while addressing life in the streets among other things. Following up his latest feature to Lunice’s “Distrust,” take a listen to Denzel’s new single & let us know what you think. If you’re fan, be sure to show your support on iTunes, and keep your eyes peeled for updates on the upcoming Taboo album.
In other news, look for Denzel to hit the stage at this year's stacked Rolling Loud Festival in San Francisco, along with Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Schoolboy Q, 21 Savage, Young Thug & more. (Peep that line up here)
Quotable Lyrics:
I keep the heat so let me be discreet
The highs and lows, the skies and then the streets
The life I live has took a part of me
The only Hell resides in my memories
