Emeli Sandé is coming off the release of a new 6-track EP yesterday called Kingdom Coming, featuring guest appearances from Dave East, Giggs & Wretch 32. Emeli had the following to say about the mini project…
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to share this body of work with you! Fronted by a beautiful photo of me and big paps in 1992, it was made in complete freedom and pure passion. I invited some genius friends of mine to join me in the countryside to express themselves with no restrictions, and it’s been an honour to work with three of the world’s greatest in Giggs, Wretch 32 and Dave East. It was an intense week but an absolute dream! New sounds, new stories and a WHOLE LOT of heart! We pushed ourselves hard to reach new levels and I’m so proud of what we have created. I really hope you will enjoy the new sound exploration of this EP and that the lyrics will speak to you on a deep level.”
Looking to highlight one of the records, it’s only right we share the intro track with Harlem spitter Dave East on it called “Soon.”
Produced by Troy Lynch & Gavin Powell, Emeli delivers a somber & relatable record that finds her showing off her impressive vocals & singing about wanting to visit her significant other “soon,” but life’s issues get in the way. Dave adds some hip-hop flavor to the record, rapping about other life issues & struggles that weigh people down. If you’re with the socially conscious bars & relatable topics, this record is for you then.
Take a listen and let us know what you think! Kingdom Coming available now on iTunes.
Quotable Lyrics:
This life come at you fast
So buckle up and don't crash
Plastic bags I packed them after class
Just thinking bachelor pads
Emotionally rich, physically broke
Negative seeds get planted, spirits could grow
- Dave East
