Back in 2016, FOX launched the "Lethal Weapon" television series based on the movie with the same name. The show, which stars Damon Wayans and Sean Scott Williams, is currently on the third season which launched at the end of September. Unfortunately, this will be the last season with Wayons as he announced his departure from the show.
Speaking to Eurweb.com, Wayans revealed that he's quitting FOX's "Lethal Weapon" series after he finishes production on the thirteen episodes for the show's third season.
"I’m going to be quitting the show in December after we finish the initial 13,” he said. “So I really don’t know what they’re planning, but that’s what I’m planning. I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days.”
Wayans casual delivery of the announcement made the interviewer actually wonder the validity of the statement, asking, "So you're over it?"
"I’m done." He responded before referencing his show's character. "Like Murtaugh said, I’m too old for this."
He added, "I’m going to return to the stage and try to find my smile again.”
He continued to explain that the job also put a strain on his personal life. He said that his mother and his daughter underwent surgery recently and he wasn't able to be there because of his job.
Wayans announcement of his departure comes a few months after Clayne Crawford, who played Wayans partner on the show, was fired due to on-set behavioral issues.
