Dame Dash has been trying to distance himself from the R. Kelly conversation, but it isn't working. The connection between the two is too strong. First and foremost, both men were romantically involved with Aaliyah. Then, both Kells and Dash worked with Jay-Z extensively. Both of those points have been brought to light following the premiere of Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly. Dash told Nick Cannon that he wanted nothing to do with Jay and Kelly's joint album Best of Both Worlds (They also made a follow-up album, Unfinished Business). Memphis Bleek involved himself in the conversation though, and responded to Dash's comments. "And then you gonna really say, you wasn't there with niggas? You was opposed to it? You fucking lying," revealed Bleek.
Now, Dash is firing back at Bleek. "I really am not on the Best of Both Worlds," Dash told Hip Hop Motivators' Kenyatta Griggs. "I didn't go to a show. I didn't have my name on any of that. I was in 'Fiesta,' but only because Aaliyah said she wanted me to do it that way." The internet started to collectively call Dash out for being in "Fiesta" immediately after he tried to claim he distanced himself from Kells. By stating that he did it for Aaliyah, Dash has found a way to defend himself without taking direct blame.
