On Friday, news broke that hugely popular EDM producer Avicii had passed away at the young age of 28. The same night, at Day 1 of Coachella weekend 2, Avicii was remembered by another strong force in the world of dance music, Kygo. The Norwegian producer, who was partially responsible for popularizing what has been deemed "tropical house" in the mainstream dance music community, spoke emotionally of Avicii's influence.

"Hey Coachella, I think most have you guys have heard, but today is a very sad day for music," he said. "Earlier today, I got the news that Avicii passed away at only 28 years old. Avicii was my biggest musical inspiration and he was the reason I started making electronic music. So I don't think I would have been on this stage tonight if it wasn't for him and I know he has inspired millions of other producers out there."

He went on to close his set with his "favorite" Avicii song. "In honor of Avicii, I want you guys to dance and sing along and celebrate the life of a true musical genius," he said. "This next song is called 'Without You.'"
