Rape allegations are very difficult to deal with. From one perspective, the alleged victim's story needs to be taken seriously so that a proper investigation can be done. On the other side of the discussion, the credibility and motives of the alleged victim may lead many to disbelieve the accusations. As we reported, Chris Brown was accused of raping a young lady while in Paris, France. The alleged assault went down at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, and Brown was arrested and released by Parisian authorities in connection to the alleged assault. The authorities have not charged Brown with anything, and the singer maintains that he is innocent. "I wanna make it perfectly clear," wrote Brown on Instagram. "This is false and a whole lot of CAP! For my daughter and my family this is so disrespectful and is against my character and morals!!!!"
According to TMZ, Brown plans on suing his accuser for defamation. His Parisian lawyer, Raphael Chiche, said, "Chris Brown is free. No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris." Brown just signed a historic deal that makes him one of the youngest artists ever to own their own masters. The timing of the rape accusations to Brown's deal have made rappers such as T.I. question the entire situation.
