In honor of Kanye West's fortieth birthday, Tim Westwood blew the dust off of this 2004 clip, which finds a youthful Ye sitting down for his first UK interview. The conversation took place two weeks before the release Ye's debut album, the classic College Dropout, the one that started it all. In the clip, a 26-year old Kanye is all smiles, kicking it with Dame and Biggs while previewing cuts like "Slow Jamz," and spitting a "Last Call" verse over the (then-unreleased) "Touch The Sky" instrumental.
Check it out for yourself, and take a second to reflect on the Kanye legacy. With seven studio albums, countless hits, and Watch The Throne under his belt, is there really anyone touching Ye's discography right now? Say what you will about his current antics, but the rise of Kanye West has been truly magnificent. Respect, and happy birthday to one of the greatest!
