Chance The Rapper's "I Might Need Security," one of four tracks surprise-released by the Chicago emcee last week, was not supposed to chart, according to him at least. After seeing that his loose track had hit No. 60 on this week's Hot 100, Chance expressed surprise on Instagram and promised fans he'd get them the new material they seem to so desperately want. "WOAH WOAH WOAH. This aint supposed to be on @billboard This is ridiculous," he wrote. "I understand how badly u guys want new music now, headed to the lab."
Last we heard, Chance had quite a few projects in the works. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, he revealed that he was working on collaborative projects with both Kanye West and Childish Gambino, two joint albums that have been rumored for some time. As far as his next solo endeavor, the rapper has previously expressed that he may release his first proper album after sharing his first three projects as mixtapes.
According to Chance, his ability to work on more than one project at once is something he learned from Kanye. "What's cool is that 'Ye's kind of got me in a mode of understanding just your ability to multitask and work on different things," he said. "Because of his ability to work on multiple projects, I've been actively working on the project with Childish, I'm gonna do a seven-track with ‘Ye."
Who knows which one we'll hear first, but be confident that Chance's four loose tracks are far from the only thing we'll hear from him in the near future.
