Cardi B truly stunned on the pink carpet of last night's Met Gala. The "Get Up 10" music maker wore a Thom Browne-designed gown with 44-carat rubies on each nipple. According to XXL, each crafted jewel (by jewelry designer Corina Mihaila Larpin’s luxe jewelry brand Stefere) was $250,000 each. "If I lose one of these, I'm gonna have to sell one of my Birkin bags," Cardi said of the detailed design.
The elaborate gown was covered in 30,000 burned and dyed coque feathers and included a 10-foot train that all together took 2,000 hours to make.
“I designed this dress for Cardi specifically because she has the ultimate beauty in a woman’s body, and that is what the dress is about for me: taking advantage of that beauty,” Thom Browne said of the lovely dress.
"These reviews make me so happy :’) . Yes! I felt like I was going to cry yesterday of happiness and proudness," Cardi wrote on Instagram. "I was proud for @thombrowneny @kollincarter and ALL the people that took hours to make this dress .I was proud of myself because with my overbooked schedule I still managed to go to all my fittings and I was so proud of my team for coming and working together to make me look like a MASTERPIECE!"
