When it comes to bling that will take your breath away, no woman in hip-hop is topping Cardi B's new engagement ring.
The "Bodak Yellow" rapper was proposed to by Migos member Offset, who has been her boyfriend for some time, during last Friday night’s (October 27th) Power 99 Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia. Offset, who has also been one of the rap's most sought-after featured artists in 2017, got down on bended knee and received the answer that any man wants to hear from their prospective spouse: hell yes! Now, in a new report from TMZ, some details about that engagement ring have come to light and let's just say that it took multiple bands in order to cop a ring good enough for Cardi.
There definitely wasn't any corner-cutting when it came time for Offset to plunk down some of his hard-earned dollars on the ring. Apparently it it ran him a little north of half a million bucks - $550,000 to be exact. The ring, which took over a month to make, was put together by Pristine Jewelers, an upscale New York City jeweler. Although the couple had a brief breakup that was very public on Instagram for a minute, the ring was made ready just in time for the proposal to go down in Philadelphia.
In total, Cardi's ring features an 8-carat stone, surrounded by 2 half-carat pear diamonds and 2 carats worth of pink and white gems. The overall design, which is in the shape of a raindrop, was custom designed as per explicit instructions from Offset himself. The ring was supposedly finished on the day of his Philly Powerhouse proposal, which means he picked up the item mere hours before going through with the engagement. Talk about perfect timing.
At the end of the day, Offset might be getting some of that money back, after BET expressed interest in turning the couple's nuptials into a made-for-TV event similar to Gucci Mane's wedding extravaganza that went down earlier this fall. There's no telling exactly when wedding bells will be ringing for Cardi B and Offset, but whenever it does happen, it's sure to be an unforgettable piece of theater.
