Since the day it came out, the newest in the infinite line of Call of Duty games, Black Ops 4, has been doing its very best to capitalize on the success of Fortnite and Player Unknown: Battlegrounds. With the most recent update, though, it feels like Treyarch is overstepping a little.
Fortnite's seventh season, which came out about a week ago and right on its heels comes an update for Call of Duty with strikingly similar themes. Fortnite's featured a snowy biome, a Santa skin and Christmas plane (among other things). Black Ops is getting a similar Christmas makeover: "snowballs, festive lighting/decorations, and holiday-themed Supply Stashes" in the battle royale game mode (inspired by Fortnite to begin with).
The update won't be available on PC just yet, though. Treyarch explained why on the Black Ops 4 subreddit: “because we’ve made PC a priority this year with a dedicated studio team and more support for PC-exclusive options and features than ever before, we’re committed to taking the time to make sure each update is thoroughly tuned and tested before we release each update on PC. This will typically require a later release time for PC compared to its console counterparts, and we’ll always target a release window of within 24 hours of a console patch.”
