"The fakest movie I ever seen!"

BET most recently took over conversations near and far with the premiere of The Bobby Brown Story. The biopic of the legendary singer, split into a two-part miniseries, served as a looking glass into the drama surrounding his tumultuous career and personal life. Naturally, fans who enjoyed the film were met in equal parts by critics of the depiction. One of those critics arrived in the form of Brown’s older sister, Leolah Brown Muhammad, who took to social media to point what she says are inaccuracies, especially the portrayal of Brown’s current wife, Alicia.

“THE FAKEST MOVIE I EVER SEEN! THAT IS NOT ALICIA,” Leolah penned in a Facebook post. THAT IS NOT ALICIA! PALEEEEEEEEEZ! SPARE ME THAT LAUGH! SUCH A LIAR! I'M WONDERING WHAT IS THE MOTIVE FOR ALL THIS? I READ WELL THOUGH...AND TRUST I'M NOT DUMB!

In the second half of the biopic, Alicia is portrayed as Bobby’s saving grace, supporting him at every step of recovery. But, Brown’s sister asserts that the role of the supportive wife fails at imitating life.

“BOBBY WHY DID YOU LET ALICIA LIE LIKE THAT IN THAT MOVIE AND SAY SHE WELCOMED YOUR WHOLE FAMILY INTO HER LIFE!!!??? AND THIS BITCH LITERALLY WITHOUT A LITTLE EXAGGERATION HATES FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT CARRIES YOUR BLOOD,” Leolah continued on Facebook.

“SHE WOULDN'T EVEN ALLOW YOU TO GIVE YOUR OWN MOTHER $17.00 DAM DOLLARS TO PAY FOR YOUR MOTHERS MEDICINE SHE NEEDED AT THE DAM PHARMACY… BOBBY WHY ARE YOU ALL LYING FOR HER!??? SHE'S EVIL! YOU ARE SLEEPING WITH THE DEVIL!”

In a separate comment, she also referenced Whitney Houston’s portrayal in the film, voicing her distaste for it as well. “I do understand my brother wanting to tell his story. But my thing is, why lie or allow THEM to lie and make Whitney look so bad,” Brown Muhammad replied to a comment on her initial Facebook post. “Yes Whitney was feisty! But…but SHE LOVED BOBBY! AND SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO BE TALKED ABOUT LIKE THAT!”

In response to the comments, Bobby’s son, Bobby Brown Jr. addressed his aunt asking her to “give it a rest.”

“Be proud of your brother and his accomplishments,” he added according to Essence. “Quit it with the negativity. It’s not cool at all.”
