Hip-hop lost another member of its community Monday night as Bay Area rapper, The Jacka, was shot and killed in Oakland, California last night.
According to CBS San Francisco, Tha Jacka (whose real name is Dominic Newton), was gunned down on MacArthur Boulevard by 94th Avenue in the Eastmont area of Oakland. The reports say witnesses heard several gun shots go off around 8:15 PM local time, but no suspects have been identified as of yet.
The Jacka was coming fresh off the release of his latest project, What Happened To The World, which dropped back in December. He had also linked up with Philly rapper, Freeway, for last year's Highway Robbery LP as well.
Hip-hop nation has been paying their condolences throughout the night, as Raekwon, Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs, Crooked I, DJ Premier, and Jake One all took to Twitter to pay their respect. Check out the tweets below. #RIP
