Dreamville's roster is shaping up to be one of hip-hop's most promising. With a lineup that includes J. Cole, J.I.D, EarthGang, Cozz and Bas, it's difficult to imagine anything other than greatness.
New York rapper Bas has already enjoyed the success of previous albums Last Winter and Too High To Riot, though many fans feel like his definitive project has yet to come. Now, as he readies his upcoming third studio album, Bas has taken it upon himself to preview a new single, employing one of the age-old hype inducing techniques; showcase a song in which your label boss absolutely spazzes. Never fails, really.
Over the weekend, Bas held it down at the Woo Hah! festival at Beekse Bergen in The Netherlands, where Dreamville founder J. Cole enjoyed a headlining spot. Perhaps Bas simply felt compelled by camaraderie, but he opted to premiere a new Cole-assisted banger, set to appear on his forthcoming untitled album. Though the quality is merely passable, it's clear that Cole has achieved full-fledged beast mode, bringing forth a composed, yet spastic double-time flow over a soulful instrumental. Clearly 2018 has been a good year for Cole, who continues to deliver some of his strongest material thus far.
And Bas ain't no slouch either. Peep the future banger below.
